The lab’s general interest is in the field of molecular neurobiology. More specifically, our research focus is on molecular changes at the level of gene expression that occur as part of learning and memory processes. We aim to combine molecular biology tools with behavioral experiments in mice and transgenic mouse lines as animal model.
The second focus of the lab is to understand patterns of neuronal connectivity. Neurons communicate via synapses, wired to complex networks. Very little is understood about the connectivity rules both for distant and locally projecting neurons. Moreover, the relationship between cellular identity (as reflected by gene expression) and network properties are even less described. We will apply molecular tools and measurements to shed more light on these topics.
