RBNI Scholarships & Prizes for excellence in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology 2022

The Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute will grant excellence scholarships for graduate students in Nano Science and Technology who study at the Technion during the current academic year (October 2021‐September 2022).

The purpose of the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute excellence scholarships is to encourage students to engage in research in Nano science and Technology.

The primary criterion for receiving the excellence scholarships is the scientific output such as publications in scientific journals or scientific conferences.

The advisor should outline the research achievements in his recommendation letter.

The awardees of the excellence scholarship will receive 1 additional scholarship portion per month, in addition to their approved scholarships at the time of winning the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute excellence scholarships.

The additional scholarship will be given for the period between October 1st 2021‐ September 30th 2022, according to the following terms and conditions detailed below.

Candidates having a named scholarship or an external scholarship, can submit a nomination for the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute excellence scholarships channel upon the approval of the Technion graduate school and conditioned on the guidelines of the external/named scholarship that the student has.

Criteria:

A graduate student may submit a nomination for the excellence scholarship only for his current degree and will be rewarded only for this degree (except for students in a direct PhD track).

Master degree students:

1 . The student has at least 4 scholarship portions, for at least 11 months during the academic year 11.2021‐09.2022, including Sep. 2022. This is a mandatory criterion.

**An exception is granted to a graduate student who commenced his studies in March 2020 and received an approval for 24 consecutive months of scholarships and was granted “6a” approval. During the current academic year the student has scholarships for at least 11 months between 10.2021‐08.2022 (including 08.2022).

2. The student has an approved research topic.

PhD students: .

1. PhD students may submit their nomination if they are in a regular PhD track or in a special track , OR If the student is in a direct PhD track only if the student joined/moved to a direct track before 9/21.

A PhD student  may submit a nomination for the excellence scholarship of the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute before the candidacy exam.

2. The student is entitled for at least 4 scholarship portions during the current academic year (November 1st 2021‐ September 30th 2022).

Required documents:

1. The application must be submitted online. The online form is at the bottom of this page. The candidate must include an official and updated grades sheet, signed by the Technion graduate school (for an official and signed transcript please contact Rinat Ben Chaim from the graduate school at gradsc@technion.ac.il  phone: 04‐8292478).

2. Recommendation letters‐ 2 recommendation letters from faculty (one from the student advisor). If the student has more than one advisor, he/she should submit one letter from each advisor.

Please follow the guidelines closely.

Prizes  - The selected nominees for receiving the Russell Berrie Institute excellence scholarship, will be eligible to move on to the second phase and submit a request to receive an excellence prize as well.

Guidelines will be published later for this phase.

Three prizes will be offered: 2,500 NIS, 5,000 NIS and 7,500 NIS.
