Nano main field: Design of nano-clay composites based on natural clay minerals modified by organic micelles, polymers and biological materials such as enzymes, polysaccharides and amyloid fibers; Immobilizing pollutant degrading bacteria on clay and oxide matrices; Microbial attachment to colloidal soil particles; Adsorption and chemical degradation at the solid interface of colloidal soil particles.

Main interests: Environmental chemistry for soil and water remediation; Applying clay minerals and metal oxides as catalytic surfaces in chemical and biological remediation; Chemical and biological processes at the water/soil interface; Combining tailored adsorption processes with chemical and biological degradation processes to improve remediation practices; In situ chemical oxidation of pollutants; Fate and transformation of anthropogenic pollutants in the environment.
