Self-organization of patch patterns at different spatial and temporal scales.  

Various phenomena at different scales exhibit self-organized behavior. Such behavior is critical in the functioning of  biological and ecological systems and in their resilience to disturbances.

The study of Nano-structures  may allow insight into mechanisms of self-organization.
