Nano Main Field: I study Hereditary Retinal Degeneration - a heterogeneous group of diseases leading to blindness. Using genetic approaches, we map the underlying gene in various familes to certain genomic intervals. To identify the specific mutation in each family we use whole exome sequencing. Whole exome sequencing is performed by target-enrichment to selectively capture genomic regions of interest (exons) from a DNA sample, followed by high throughput sequencing. Targeted exome capture is based on nnotechnology.

Research interests: genetics and vision loss.
