The Russell Berrie Foundation was created to express the values, passions and ideas of the late Russ Berrie. The foundation supports individuals and non-profit organizations that are able to respond to the unique challenges of a rapidly changing world and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Honored as the 2001 Outstanding Foundation by the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, The Russell Berrie Foundation takes a proactive approach to find dynamic leaders with the passion, energy and commitment to be the driving force behind programs that fulfill the broad vision of its founder: improving the well being of society.
The philanthropic initiatives of the Russell Berrie Foundation include fostering continuity and enrichment of Jewish communal life and the encouragement of religious tolerance; issues of health, either research or treatment, with emphasis on diabetes and humanism in medicine; recognition of individuals who have made a significant difference in the lives of others, and support for the arts, especially as it relates to strengthening the arts in our community
